It is the same here in the UK on 5/11/12 - Guy Faulkes night when we have fireworks. We stay indoors with our dog and watch fireworks safely from our window - much nicer as very cold here in November. My dog doesn't get frightened much but I have friends who have dogs who do get into a bad state, shaking, drooling and panting with fright. Dogs can safely be given a homeopathic remedy upto 6 hours before the event to reduce stress caused by fireworks and other such events that can cause anxiety in dogs, such as visits to the vet or a long car journey. Pet calmers by Bradfield are drops made from flower and plant essences which induce calm, and prevent symptoms as described above and the good news is they are chemical free, non toxic and cannot be over-administered. Ideal if your dog needs calming down on 4th July fireworks.
