Lots of Contests on our Pet Auto Safety Blog

February 18, 2013

Blog Paws Winnings 002

Do you like to win prizes? Maya and Pierson sure do. In fact, they recently won some great gifts from Blog Paws!

Maya & Pierson aren’t just all about getting stuff. They like to help give stuff away too. So earlier this month, they convinced me that I should do another giveaway for a free dog car harness. After all, it’s important that dogs ride safe in the car too. They are family. That contest is still open until the end of the month. It was posted on my Pet Auto Safety Blog on February 5th, 2013 and is open until the end of the month.

Another contest just started today on that blog. It is a contest from Subaru and the prize is a $350 Visa gift card (1st place) and a $150 Visa gift card (2nd place). You must check this out! I am ineligible but perhaps one of my doggy friends can win!

How did Maya & Pierson win a gift from Blog Paws? I volunteered to help promote the Super Dog Sunday. This even helped to raise funds for the Petfinder Foundation. Little did I know that when I volunteered that I would be entered into a drawing. It was a great surprise! Another great surprise from volunteering to help Super Dog Sunday is that Maya and Pierson get to try out a new product called Kumfy Koatz. And guess what?!? I also get to give one away!!! So visit my Pet Auto Safety Blog. Find and enter the dog seat belt giveaway contest posted on February 5th, the Subaru gift card contest posted today (February 18th), and keep an eye out for the Kumfy Koatz contest. I will post some photos on Wednesday for the Wordless Wednesday. Then I will open the contest entry for the Kumfy Koatz on Friday, February 22nd.

Wow! That’s a lot of stuff. Maya & Pierson wish you luck!

Wordless Wednesday – Trip to Texas for Thanksgiving Part II

November 28, 2012

Before you look at these pictures, go visit our Pet Auto Safety Blog for the first nine Wordless Wednesday photos from our trip to Texas. The first nine photos consist of the trip itself and are not to be missed! Now check out the other eight photos below:

Pierson was obsessed with Odie, my parent’s bird. Maya had no interest in the bird what-so-ever. There was one instance where Pierson went after the bird in the cage, but no one was hurt.

Maya hopes for a piece of Thanksgiving Turkey to fall while everyone prepares their plate for the Thanksgiving feast.

Everyone passed out after dinner. Here is Maya resting with my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law.

The day after thanksgiving, my husband and our friends Sha Sha and Jinbo decided to make a Chinese dinner feast for my family. Left to right, my dad, me, my husband, Jinbo, and Sha Sha. My step-mom is taking the photo.

After dinner, we play Apples to Apples.

Over the weekend, we went to downtown Austin. This is the capitol building.

Another photo taken in downtown Austin.

On the way home to Kansas. Jinbo and Sha Sha fall asleep while Maya looks on longingly from the back. We all enjoyed the trip but can’t wait to get back home.

Pet Travel Photo Contest – Enter to Win

October 24, 2012

Our other blog, Pet Auto Safety Blog, is having a pet travel photo contest. Details on how to enter to win a $25 gift card are HERE. Basically, send us a photo of your pet on vacation. It doesn’t have to be a long vacation. It could be as simple as a day trip such as in the first two photos below. In these first two photos, my dog Sephi met her play-date, Sunny, at the Shawnee Mission dog park. Sunny was a Golden Retriever and this was his first trip to a dog park. Sephi showed him the ropes. The third photo is of Sephi and my sister’s dog Mocha. Every year for the holidays my family and I pack up the car, drive from Kansas to Texas, and spend time with family. Of course, family includes the dogs. (And the dogs ride safe with their dog seat belts.) In this third photo, Sephi and Mocha are enjoying their holiday by playing together with this stuffed dog toy.

The Shawnee Mission dog park has a lake for swimming. Sephi wants to show Sunny how it’s done but she doesn’t want to do more than get her feet wet.

Sephi and Sunny explore the wooded area of the Shawnee Mission dog park.

Sephi and Mocha tear up a dog toy together. Sephi obviously has the advantage.

These are examples of the types of photos you can enter into our pet travel photo contest. Remember to visit our Pet Auto Safety Blog for more information!

Nearly Wordless Wednesday – Photos from Dogtoberfest

October 10, 2012

Sadly, I did not take many photos at Dogtoberfest this year. I was distracted. I was initially distracted by Maya and Pierson. I know Pierson doesn’t care for other dogs much but he did so well at The Dog House around other dogs that I decided to see how he would do at Dogtoberfest. It did not go well at all. He tried to go after every single dog that went by. This, in turn, made Maya go crazy too. So I had my husband take Pierson home. After that, Maya calmed down. The second thing I was distracted by was the cool weather. I was freezing! Thankfully, we still had a lot of visitors to Dogtoberfest despite the cold.

Lots of visitors, and this is just near the entrance of the event.

I met a lot of people and a lot of dogs. But dumb me didn’t think to take pictures of all the cute dogs until I saw the biggest dog I have ever seen… this Irish Wolfhound. He was twice as tall as my Maya! And so sweet.

You can’t really tell how big the Irish Wolfhound is in this picture but standing, he stands twice as tall as my Maya in the foreground.

Since I didn’t get that many photos, I asked Jim Sovanski with Sovanski Photography, who also had a booth at Dogtoberfest, if he would lend me some of the photos he took. So here you go!

The beautiful Collie is all dressed up for Dogtoberfest.

Look at Titan, the beautiful Mastiff. He had fun at Dogtoberfest too.

It wasn’t just people checking out all the pet vendors at Dogtoberfest, it was the dogs too.

People didn’t just go to Dogtoberfest to shop for pet stuff, they went to watch dog agility, disc dogs, pet trick and costume contests, and to meet other dogs. Some dogs, but not this one, were there for adoption.

If I’m not mistaken, these cute guys are named Stomp and McKenzie. Adorable, right?

All-in-all, it was a great day. The day eventually warmed up and everyone was great. And Maya helped me with a short presentation on why keeping your pet safe in the car is so important. Do you have any fun pet events in your home town?

Pet Vacation Photo Contest – Win a $25 Gift Card

Have you gone somewhere fun with your dog? My dog Smokey and I went on a lot of vacations with me. I was really into hiking back then (about 15-20 years ago) and so was Smokey. He had his own back pack and everything. Our two best trips were our 3-day hike around Georgetown Lake in Texas and our week-long trip to Arizona. If you’ve had a fun vacation with your dog go visit our other blog, Pet Auto Safety Blog, for more details on how you can win a $25 gift card.

Dogtoberfest – Lawrence, KS

Pet Auto Safety will be at the Dogtoberfest here in Lawrence, Kansas tomorrow (October 7th). If you are in the Kansas City area, consider coming to Southpark, located on Massachusetts street in downtown Lawrence. The event is from 10am to 3pm. There will not only be vendors like myself, there will also be a lot of activities. Check out the disc dogs in action, have your dog try out an agility course, kids make crafts, adults answer dog trivia questions, everyone can win prizes.

My Labrador Maya had a blast at Dogtoberfest last year. Here are some photos:

Why You Are Not Seeing Any New Posts…

May 14, 2012

Due to a family emergency, I will be out of town and focused on family for at least another week. My mother is in the hospital with several complications. For a while we weren’t sure she would make it. Even now when she is awake and wanting out of bed, we are still not sure how severe the issues are with her heart and lung cancer.

While I may not be posting much on my Facebook or Twitter, there is a pet travel safety giveaway on All Things Dog Blog. The pet travel safety supplies being given away is from our Pet Auto Safety Blog.

Thank you for your patience. Please check out some of our older posts and visit us again soon.

What Are You Going to do with Your Dog this Holiday Season?

December 17, 2011

Are you taking your dog with you this holiday season or are you leaving him behind? If you can’t take your pet with you, read our article from our Pet Auto Safety blog titled, “Where Will Your Dog Stay This Holiday Season?” This article considers pet sitters, friends, and boarding kennels.

Please note, if you haven’t thought about who is going to care for your pet this holiday season, it may be too late to hire a pet sitter or make reservations with a boarding kennel. These places are generally fully booked for the holidays weeks or months in advance.

Holiday Pet Discount at Pet Auto Safety.com and Animal Figurine Store.com

Dog figurines from Animal Figurine Store

Dog Figurines from the Animal Figurine Store

The holidays are here once again.  It is time to visit family, to be thankful for all the goodness in your life, to remember the good spirit of humanity, and to let your friends and family know how much you care.  While you don’t always have to give a gift in order for someone know you care, it makes you feel good.  I love it when I get a card from a friend.  Gifts are nice too, but not necessary.  But when I see that look on their face as they hand me the gift, I know that it’s a gift which they put special thought into just for me.  I can’t help but to appreciate their friendship all the more.

All my friends know that I am a big lover.  So most of the time, I am given gifts which have to do with dogs – a book about dogs, a dog toy, something I can use for my dogs, or just a gift with a dog theme.  If you have a dear friend who loves dogs as much as I do, consider getting them such a gift.  A dog figurine of their beloved pet can be something special and a great keepsake.  A dog car seat belt for their dog is another idea.  A dog lover will genuinely appreciate that you not only thought about them, but that you also thought about the special four-legged friend in their life.

As a gift to you, we are giving you a special discount on Pet Auto Safety.com and Animal Figurine Store.com.  To get 15% off, enter discount code, holidaypet.  That is spelled in all lower-case and all one word.  Feel free to use it anytime.  But be sure to place an order early.  We don’t offer rush shipping so the earlier you place your order, the better.
