Wordless Wednesday – Toys All Over the House

February 19, 2014
Pierson Kibble Drop Dog Toy 1

One dog, three dog toys. Two dogs, thirty dog toys… maybe more.

No, I don’t have children. But one might think so with all these toys all over the place. It never fails that the moment I put them all away, Maya or Pierson suddenly want the dog toy on the bottom. Sillies. 😀

Dog Toys All Over the Floor 001

De-stuffed bunny, piggy bottle buddy, two red owl blanket toys from Petco with the owl heads torn off, invincibles gecko, and a homemade dog toy made form a scarf and a tennis ball.

Dog Toys All Over the Floor 002

That green thing in the background is the toy box. There are lots of toys piled around it. On the dog bed is an antler horn and the orange invincibles gecko. That brown thing is the blanket. Pierson sometimes considers the blanket a toy.

Do your dogs leave their stuff all over your house?

Mostly Wordless Wednesday – Petco Toy and Bandana

January 15, 2014

Look what Maya and Pierson won from Petco through the All Things Dog Blog! I don’t usually have Maya and Pierson wearing bandanas because bandanas were Sephi’s thing. But you have to admit that Pierson looks darned dashing. 🙂

Maya Pierson New Petco Toy

Yes, Maya. You get to play with the toy too. But the bandana goes to Pierson.

Petco Stuff from All Things Dog Blog 003

Well, Maya. You’re going to have to wait until Pierson is done with it.

Wordless Wednesday – Snow Face & Snow Tussle

January 8, 2014

We missed our first winter show because we were in Texas for the holiday. But the snow we got a couple days ago made up for it. My dogs Maya and Pierson had a brawl… I mean ball!

“Yes, mommy. I do want to play in the snow. But let’s have breakfast first, k?

“Since we can’t have a snow ball fight, let’s just have a snow tussle.”

Wordless Wednesday – Photos of Thanks to Dog Leader Mysteries

November 13, 2013

Okay, so this post isn’t completely wordless. (Is it ever?) But I have to tell you what these photos represent. A couple of months ago, Pierson entered a Best Mutt contest held by Deborah Taylor-French on her fabulous Dog Leader Mysteries blog. And guess what? He won! So here are some cute photos of Maya and Pierson with the prizes Pierson won.

Pierson Won Dog Treats

Pierson won these great dog treats, but he’s being a good little brother and sharing with Maya.

Pierson and Bat Dog Toy 2

Pierson really loves the bat dog toy he won from Dog Leader Mysteries blog.

Thanks, Deborah! 🙂

(Notice Maya’s paw. It is just a hairless spot now. It is no longer red and swollen.)

Wordless Wednesday – Strange Spring

May 1, 2013

The weather has been crazy. Last week we had snow. Yesterday and the day before were really nice (in the 80s). Tomorrow we are going to have snow again! It’s crazy I tell you.

Since I missed last Wordless Wednesday, here are some photos from the past 10 days or so.

My Dog Maya and Tulips

Maya looks Pretty by the blooming Tulips.

Snow in Kansas April 23

No lie. It snowed at our house on April 23rd, 2013. This is highly unusual in NE Kansas.

Tulips and Snow

I was really worried about what the snow would do to our beautiful tulips.

Blooming Tulips

Despite the recent snow, our colorful Tulips are still blooming beautifully.

Maya Yellow Ball 4

Maya, do you want to play fetch with this big yellow beach ball?

Maya Yellow Ball 1

Maya will jump to try to catch this yellow ball, but it is too big so it bounces off her nose. She loves the game, nonetheless.

Maya Yellow Ball 2

Here comes the big yellow ball, Maya. Are you going to get it?

Maya Yellow Ball 3

Get that big yellow ball, Maya!

Pierson Kong Flyer 1

Pierson doesn’t like the beach ball. He’s scared of it for some reason. But he loves to play with his Kong Flyer.

Aussie Mix Pierson and Kong Flyer

More of my adorable dog Pierson with his Kong Flyer.

Pierson Kong Flyer 3

I can’t get enough of the Pierson cuteness with his Kong Flyer.

Pierson Running after Kong Flyer

Just look at the fluffy fur fly! Pierson can’t catch the Kong Flyer in the air yet.

Pierson Kong Flyer 5

It looks like he might catch the flyer this time, but no. Pierson waits for the Kong Flyer to land on the ground before he gets it.

Wordless Wednesday – Into the Night

March 20, 2013

Did you see Maya’s review of the NiteDawg light up dog collar from March 2nd? It was pretty cool, right? Except it probably wouldn’t work as well as on dogs like my Pierson with long hair. Well, it just so happens that Pierson won his own light up dog collar shortly after! He won it from the Jones Natural Chews blog! (BTW, if you haven’t seen this blog, it’s fun and super funny.) The light from Pierson’s collar hangs down so his hair doesn’t obscure it. Here are the pet photos of both Maya & Pierson wearing their light up dog collars… into the night.

My dogs wearing dog collars with lights.

See how Maya’s dog collar glows around her neck while Pierson’s shines a light?

Despite their light up dog collars, I still managed to trip in the dark.

These pet photos aren’t the best. It is so difficult taking photos of the dogs at night. But for some great pet photos, check out the link to the Wordless Wednesday blog hop below:

Wordless Wednesday – Reasons for My Dogs’ Nicknames

Wordless Wednesday – Practicing Pet Safety

January 2, 2013

I remember working in the corporate world and noticing that I had more pictures of my dogs on my desk than other people had of their children or grandchildren. So I wouldn’t be surprised if some people thought of me as the crazy dog lady. I don’t have kids so my dogs are my family (for years, it was just Sephi and I). And as such, I take care of them as well as, and sometimes better than, I take care of myself. Here are some photos to prove it:

We all eat healthy. Maya & Pierson get a good quality dog food in measured portions.

I feed my dogs twice a day so that they don’t eat a large amount at one time. Eating too much at once can cause bloat, which can be deadly for dogs, especially big dogs. One thing I would like to try is a slow pet feeder dog bowl.

Pull No More dog harness

I decided to stop using retractable leads since it made Maya’s walking habits worse and because I heard a horrible story about a dog getting struck by a car because he tried to run across the street after another dog. The owner did not lock the retractable lead quickly enough. 😦

Pierson has a rabies tag, the Home Again tag with his microchip number, and his id tag with my phone number.

Dougie Wearing His Dog Life Jacket

Dougie wears a dog life jacket when he is out on the water. Dougie is not my dog. Maya has one, but I don’t have a picture of her wearing it. Pierson has yet to go swimming so he doesn’t have one yet.

I keep these in my car along with pet identification cards with vet info, a blanket, water, and extra leashes.

Dog toys that I know my dogs will chew to pieces are kept picked up and can only be played with under supervision.

After I heard about a dog running with a stick in his mouth and the stick getting jammed into the back of his throat, I try really hard not to let Maya play with sticks.

The first thing I do after a snow is shovel and de-ice the steps. These steps are the only way my dogs can get to the fenced yard and I don't want them to slip. Warm water is used when they get inside to remove the salt.

How do you practice pet safety? Am I missing anything important?
